This is the story in Luke's Gospel in chapter 24 of two disciples on the road to Emmaus. They encountered the resurrected Christ but didn't recognize Him at first. Imagine yourself as one of those disciples in this story put to music.

Nothing ahead but a dark road
My hopes and dreams

He was the talk of the town
But He wore a crown of thorns

Than die on a cross of scorn
